Dr. Jan Casimir Seski, Director of Gynecologic Oncology at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania made headlines when he was accused of killing a lion illegally near Zimbabwe's Hwange National Park. Information on his illegal hunt which took place in April 2015 was given to the local police by a Zimbabwean landowner named Headman Sibanda who was arrested for being involved in the hunt.
Seski is a member of the Alaska Bow Hunting Society and has killed at least six elephants. a lion, a hippopotamus, a giraffe, a zebra, an ostrich, a caracal, a buffalo, a gemsbok, an nyala, an impala and a kudu.
On the Alaska Bow Hunting Society website there are some graphic images showing some of his kills that he did with his bows. One of the images showing an elephant he had killed has a caption with the following words: "The arrow struck high in the crease, traveled between ribs on the near side, cut completely through the top of the heart, then kept going out the other side, once again, between ribs.", which shows just how horrific lethal these bows can be.
Dr. Jan Seski’s practice was fined $ 100 000 by the U.S. government in 2013 after he pleaded guilty to buying unapproved foreign drugs.
